The dragon design is different than I would have thought (kind of pokemonish,) but I like it!

I think the pokemonish dragon works very well with the boy's character though. It's really cute in a dark, scaled, fire-breathing kind of way.

I have to admit, Toothless' (the dragon) design is ridiculously appealing! My only thought on it though is that in comparison to the other dragon images that have been released he seriously stands out from the rest of the dragons design wise. Perhaps this was on purpose, but it's almost jarring when looking at the stuff on the books that Dreamworks is planning to release on Amazon (namely the art on the back of the art of book). But perhaps the renders there weren't used in the film itself, and I will be holding off serious judgment until I actually see the film.

Don't care for the dragon design. Looks like a committee designed it.

But I'm happy to see Dean Dubliois is directing it.

A commitee didn't design it. Just two people and one of them was Chris Sanders and the other is Takao Noguchi.

Kudos to all the character designers that worked on it. Nico Marlet was definitely a huge influence, but they were others who contributed significantly to the process: Shannon Tindle, Shane Prigmore, Tony Siruno, Devin Crane, Carlos Grangel, Takao Noguchi, Chris Sanders, Sylvain Deboissy, Simon Otto and Jean Gillmore. Congrats!!!
