I have been following your blog for the past couple of months. Ever since i have seen your work at the San Diego Comicon a couple years ago i have always been inspired by you. I was wondering if you would be able to take the time to answer a question that i have.
I have recently been thinking alot about pursuing freelance illustration. However, one of my main concerns is about leaving sample portfolios and samples in general. The problem i have is that i don't want my work to be ripped off and i want to make sure i get what i deserve for my work.
Is there anything i can do to protect my work so it doesnt get stolen by a company if i leave them samples? Does having the original computer files for the work protect my ownership of it? or even if i have the original drawings in possession? Or would i just have to copyright all of my work? Should i really be worried about these issues before I start leaving porfolios around?
